Early Settlers in the 1800's in the Ohio River Valley
In the early 1800's the westward expansion was to places like Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. All accessible via the Ohio River. Purchasing only what they could afford and packing up as much as they could carry, families would purchase the wood and have a Flatboat built to traverse the river and find a suitable place to homestead. Once the location was chosen the Flatboat was disassembled and used to fabricate a temporary home until something more permanent could be constructed. They brought seeds to plant in the Spring and livestock as well as furniture, clothing and cookware.
Pictured below are 1:6 scale models and figures of my interpretation of how my ancestors journeyed down the Ohio River, before settling in what is now called Cincinnati.
